Welcome to one of country's top shirt applique design companies!
I started the Pattern Company "Caught up in Stitches, Inc." in May, 1987, with a line of soft-sculpted patterns. In 1992 I started designing sweatshirt appliqué patterns which was an instant success. I have continued with the sweatshirt designs for the last 16 years, mingled with a few quilt designs and country homespun towel appliques. I am the sole owner and designer of Caught up in Stitches, Inc.
My first experience at exhibiting at shows was at the International Quilt Market in Houston, TX in November, 1987. Over the past 20 years I have exhibited in 38 International Quilt Market shows and 8 CHA (Craft & Hobby Assoc.) shows which have been held all over the United States. I have also sold both wholesale and retail patterns in several foreign countries. At the present time, I sell both retail and wholesale. I have two distributors, Checker Distributors and The Pattern Peddlers. I currently sell quantities of patterns on a monthly basis to Nancy's Notions and Clotilde for their magazines. I have been selling to them for over 3 years. I have also been advertising in Create and Decorate magazine on a regular basis for the past 2 years. My website, www.caughtupinstitches.com has been in force since 1998.
The existence and continued success of my pattern business has been because of the love and passion for what I do. For the spring 1990 Quilt Market, I designed a reindeer using recycled argyle socks from Good Will. I made sweaters and leg warmers for them to wear. It began the surge of everyone using the socks in some way on dolls and snowmen. Some manufacturers' have incorporated using replicated socks on their craft products.
My sister, Nancy Hughes, Down Memory Lane, and I have both been in the crafting business for over 28 years. We were the first to have a home craft show in Jefferson City, Mo in 1980. Because of its overwhelming success, we had to move the show to a downtown hotel for the next 2 years. The two of us hand-made almost everything we sold. In 1982 I opened my own craft shop, The Country Peddler, selling fabric, patterns, country gifts and old fashioned candy. I had to sell the business when we moved to Wichita, KS.
